    • It’s been so long now since I created HRs ribbon page that I don’t remember whether it was the DFC so some other ribbon that he had two of. I do remember that there was a ribbon that he had two of but I couldn’t find a graphic with a star in it (the symbol for a second award of the same ribbon) so just needed to use the plain ribbon. Might have been the DFC – it seems like he was always getting one or the other. The episode description would state when/if he was awarded a ribbon or citation in that episode. If you find where they were awarded and it is NOT already in my episode summary please let me know and I’ll make the update.

      • Harm received his first Distinguished Flying Cross for saving the injured CAG of the USS Seahawk after the modified Tomcat they were flying was damaged by Flak during an ATARS run prior to an alpha strike (pilot)(Season 1).

Harm received his second Distinguished Flying Cross for pushing his wingman to safety using his wingman’s tailhook and his F-14’s windscreen (Season 5 Episode 3).

    • Yes, he did get at least two DFCs in his career – don’t remember off hand which episodes. I do remember looking for a ribbon graphic with the star (signifying an additional award) but couldn’t find one — therefore, the ribbon rack on his page doesn’t have the star.

  1. must confess, i missed point about this w.m.m.v. not awarded to officers, but jag must’ve been awfully expensive to make (as much, relatively, as black sheep sqdn. & orig. star trek), maybe this was the only like-new example they could get on this episode’s budget & thought no one would notice, not anticipating lg screen hdtv. (my tv obtained 2nd hand from fred & wilma f. upon their move to a no-pets hi-rise after pebbles married bamm-bamm.)

  2. harm had sw asia svc med throughout the entire series. kuwait lib. med added near end of 1st season. further research indicates the romanian decoration is the ‘war medal of military virtue’. cdr parker’s: navy & mc achievement med, navy unit commendation, navy meritorious unit comm. & nat def svc med.

    • Paul… well, I understand what you are referring to. However, I doubt that you’ve got it right. We know clearly that the princess was Romanian from the JAG script. And we’ve got screenshots of Harm wearing the medal which clearly is a light blue (and a larger photo shows two stripes on the ends of red). The medal you are referring to is NOT like that and rather is red with blue edges. If you’ll give me your source documentation I’ll consider it again. Can’t change it based on your statement and can’t verify the ribbon on the internet. Also, I’ve tried to update each characters ribbon rack as the show progressed so that each one should have the highest rank and latest ribbons.

      • took awful long time to find 1st time, don’t remember site. this time i just yahoo’d name. i know one can’t believe everything on wikipedia, but this is the closest i’ve seen. wiki’s ribbon image doesn’t match exactly (blue w/ 1 red stripe @ ea. end), but is id’d as ‘new’ w.m.m.v., inst. 1880 to be awarded in wartime only. again, not an exact match. harm could’ve been given something else entirely, i’ve just never seen it. maybe only don bellisario &/or matt sigloch have the answer. btw, if you’ll email me a snailmail add., i’ll send you a copy of my list w/ each update thru series for reg. & rec. characters (i’m a dinosaur, i still type stuff on paper w/typewriter, don’t have computer). this list compiled w/dvd player using freeze frame & zoom.

      • Ok, you got me. I “Wiki”ed the medal and can see where you got your information. There indeed was a “new” military “virtue” medal given in Romania which matched Harm’s blue with red stripes. As you can tell from the ribbon page I have already made the upgraded alterations. I still do see a big problem though – the medal, according to Wiki, is only given to NCOs and “enlisted” soldiers, neither of which Harm would qualify for. None-the-less, I also saw the link on Wiki to Harm’s ribbon rack which clearly listed the ribbon you mention as belonging to Harm’s rack. Throwing my hands up, I’ve decided to follow suit – with reservations. I’ve sorta learned my lesson after the two year investigation over Brumby’s Australian ribbons.

  3. just to let you know that initially, Harm had the Southwest Asia Service Medal on his ribbions. This later changed to the Kuwait Liberation Medal.

    • If I haven’t included a ribbon on one of these JAG pages it’s for one of two reasons (besides the fact that I stopped actively working on this site over ten years ago when the series was cancelled). Either I haven’t seen a screenprint OR I haven’t been able to find a HEADshot closeup where the ribbon rack comprises more than a few millimeters of the screen. I’m not psychic and can’t identify ribbons any better than you can unless I can clearly see the ribbon, count the exact number of stripes, tell what order they are in and exactly what color. You cannot Identify the ribbon rack from a long shot and I don’t bother to program the code unless I have all the ribbons IDd. Feel free to look at the military ribbon page (listed in the resources page) and see if you can do better than I.

  4. In terms of Caitlin Pike’s ribbons if you wanted to add to hers, when she returned in Season 6 in Touch and Go as a Commander she has new ribbons. They are exactly the same as Carolyn Imes ribbons now :)

  5. I’m pretty toasty right now, so excuse my grammar. But, damn I find it humorous that the majority of characters (who are considered support groups in the field) wear Combat Action Ribbons…I went to both Iraq and Afghanistan and I don’t have a CAR nor a Purple Heart. I’ve also served with a JAG (a USMC Maj) and he didn’t have any of this junk either, although I’m sure he had a DMSM, that’s pretty common among upper echelon folks. Thanks for putting in the work for this, I was watching an episode and could tell from 1st glance that a lot of the medals they were wearing didn’t make sense. I don’t think I’ve seen that many Kuwait Liberation Medals in my 8 years in (2004-2012) LOL. The older age of the lower (E-4-E-6) PO’s are hilarious (most of us 20-ish for perspective).

    • It is true that most of the characters “accomplishments” are a bit… exagerated. That’s the TV business – larger than life. However, all the reviewing of the ribbons taught me that they were at least plausable (more than can be said for Brumby’s Australian ribbons.) later I learned that the show had actually hired a military consultant – former US Navy – who took it as his job to create real ribbon racks for the characters, based upon what Bellisario told him was the ‘back-story’ for that character. I was completely taken back when one of the characters whose ribbons I had looked up went through an episode which made reference to his previous service – which I already knew because I had looked them up.

    • I can’t believe that I left Skates out! She should be right there in “recurring” characters. However, I no longer have access to the JAG episodes and they are not airing where I live. I’ll be happy to try and make the addition IF someone can send me a good close-up photo of Skate’s ribbon rack from somewhere – either a screenshot or press photo.

    • Lt Elizabeth ‘Skates’ Hawkes (Sibel Ergener) ribbon rack has been updated – in addition to her scrapbook character description under significant friends. Not sure about her current rank – still Lt?
